Doc Lingo is retired from the United States Coast Guard, is an avid amateur mycologist that has been fascinated with fungi since childhood. Doc is currently building a digital herbarium and a physical herbarium, collecting the macro- fungi of Baldwin and Escambia counties in Alabama, Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Florida, all specimens collected are shared with researchers around the world the world upon written request either by email or U.S. mail.

Recent species Doc Lingo has received requests for :

Laetiporus persicinus, requested by: University of Florida.

Sclerospora graminicola (Downy mildew), requested by: U.S.D.A.

Genus Panaeolus in both grass and dung substrates, contributing to an on going study by Alan Rockefeller, specimens will be sent to alvalab for DNA sequencing.
