I watched the osprey touch down on the LA River near Willow St in Long Beach for just a few seconds. As it took off, it was carrying FOUR carp. As it flew away, it dropped one of them and kept going.

They are in the fjord for almost three weeks now.

Pod of at least 3 or 4, including one calf. Adults all appear to be female. Observed attacking a Common Dolphin, possibly teaching the calf to hunt.

If you look at the last photo closely, you can see a second marten sticking its head out of a burrow.

Regular here near turbots fishing boat. Feed on fish discarded by crew members.

Identified by a local researcher as male. Estimated around 2.5 m long.

Looks like this one has a cleft palate but would love to hear input from the iNat community!
