Fantastic wasp observed digging in soil. Around 2 cm long
common on various cactus
collected as penultimate in Sept 2019, molted to maturity March 2020
Identified this last year as A. nothoxys, but am now fairly confident it's this one instead, an addition to the Rincon flora!
We watched approximately 40 individuals running and leaping up the hillside. Looked like fantastic fun!
A 1967 snapshot in time, back before species protection and the TNC preserve. Per Kauffeld-inspired reverential respect, we carefully photographed and released these two specimens---which were found within 100 feet of each other. Golden memories....
Noticed resting in tree bark at chest height after a group of 20 students had been milling about the area for the previous 20 minutes. Note superb matching of colour and pattern to the bark.
I was very surprised to see a black colored White-tailed Deer fawn this evening behind my house. I have seen some very dark White-tailed Deer in this area in the past:

but not one like this. These are just quick shots, taken against the light and as the deer were rapidly moving away, but this black fawn can be seen in company with normally colored fawns. I will be trying to get more and better shots in the next few days.
