Numerous adult females and males were observed in small unstructured webs in open spaces on the underside of a decayed log, located in a riparian area with abundant Acer and Alnus trees.
Species identification is based on the presence of a strongly developed ventral spur on metatarsus 1 (images 2 and 6).

The small spider attacked the larger Formica fusca group worker. Within around 20 seconds the ant was immobilized, and the spider began attaching a silk tether which it used to drag the prey item away.

I think this is a juvenile Cheliferoides segmentatus. About 3mm body length. Admestina look pretty similar to me though. I found this one exploring my terra cotta chiminea.

Rough Greensnake catching an orbweaver spider. It got close to the web and then stayed there for what felt like 10 minutes (not sure it was waiting to figure out how to catch the spider or because I had disturbed it). After a while, it finally caught the spider and seemed to have no trouble eating it. My first time seeing a wild snake catch its prey!

Male. I stumbled upon this strange scene as I was leaving... a male gnaphosid on a female, but the female was VERY dead. Not sure if he was trying to mate with her, eat her, or if he's the one who killed her... hmmmm

Climbs down off an old boot and heads off in one direction, then a minute later reappears climbing off the boot again and heads off in another direction.
In earlier observations I thought it was just prowling for food, bit it appears to be a male toting gifts, on the prowl for a female.
