Notice the bark...it has come of a miro tree...it comes off in sheets and is a good way to Identify for a miro tree. These bark sheets can be very big ..it is said that the folded bark of this tree can be made into a water containeer ...i have only found brittle pieces of bark from the miro tree

Kiwi footprints approx 80-90mm long seen in the mud on Moerangi Track, about 500m down from northern side of May Moerangi saddle. Also stoat(?) and deer prints. Many kiwi also heard at night at Moerangi hut and Rogers hut.

some sort of very common water plant that was washed up everywhere and also growing in the shallows.
