Dobsonfly hellgrammites were on the move along with amphibians on this Big Night!
We found a few hellgrammites. They are otherwise known as dobsonfly larva. It was around 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024. It was about 40°F. It was cloudy outside, but there was no rain. We found many other macroinvertebrates with the hellgrammites. There were also crayfish, caddisfly larva, and mayfly larva, etc.

Habitat: Stream with flowing water and mossy rocks
