garlic odor
Dog found, no discernible odor for a human. Found under mossy duff. The spores are of a remarkable size (third pic) but my scope is from the 1890s and doesn’t have a scale bar. Black truffle spores under the same magnification shown for comparison. (I’ve labeled the other microscope pics with their objective sizes in case anyone else knows the magnification of early Wetzler scopes!)
Sweet cucumber odor. Squishy texture. Nominally a Doug fir forest but a boggy bit with a great deal of elders and moss.
Maple odor. Same species as http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/137104378
Tangerine odor. Found near the surface and nibbled. HFF burn area.
Big Elk Guard Station
Odor: Sweet, fennel
Collected
Found in a burn (prescribed? about four years) area.
Garlic powder/acidic odor. Fire following (Deception Creek Fire 2017). Prolific, but most completely melted into goo at this point.
Hi, I found these in my backyard. They were under a pebble path. At first I thought they were pebbles but when I picked one up I thought it looked more like a little potato. Then I realized it was a mushroom. Can you please help me identify them because I want to see if they’re poisonous for dogs before I let mine go outside. Thanks!
Possible strong garlic odor (but maybe it was just the twig decomposing?)
Probably not an Elaphomyces. Exterior softer, distinctly not woody.
Sweet fruity odor. Found nearly six centimeters down below an older Doug fir. Elev 5200 ft in Ochoco Mountains.
