Found in the Burro Mountains
This individual had hardened crust on the face. Does anyone know what this might be?
I live in the Ortiz Mountains south of Santa Fe, NM. I see Horned Toads in the Spring, but have never seen a pair mating. Spotted at 3:55 pm on Thursday, April 9, 2020.
Road mortality. Examined stomach contents with diescting scope. At least 7 ants present based on heads. Saved in vial.
This individual had a hardened yellow crust under the chin. Has anyone seen this before? Found again on 18 Apr. Less crust on throat but still present. SVL 49 mm. Very energetic and healthy.
