Field Notes - Some keen students of mine spotted this in the gardens of our playground. Had the funny cross/zig zag web decoration. Very clear yellow stripes across its andomen.
Orange tipped antenna, small and black
Field Notes - L. valentiana or L. nyctelia?? The more I look the more unsure I become! Also, two different slugs were photographed... for all I know there could be one of each! I've read the distinguishing feature between spp. is internal but I'd prefer not to cut them up! Sighted on my concrete steps one rainy evening.
Field Notes - Sorry for poor quality photo.
Fairly confident of genus but unsure of species. ~2.5cm long. Seen several of these around.
Field Notes - I think this could be a female Orthetrum caledonicum (ID'd using http://rnr.id.au/cgi-bin/species/odonata).
The reason it's in a bag is due to a uni invertebrate sampling exercise.
Was growing out of a blackened tree, bright orange and white in colour, 3 pieces altogether
