I would love to know what species of Rātā this is if anyone can ID from the trunk, unsure if climbing vine or tree type, roughly 15m tall and make up 1/3 of the Puriri canopy in foliage at the top.
Found on the Whirinaki Waterfall Track. Growing on a small beetle, shown in the second photo. (after fungi dug from the ground)
Dark red flowers in groups of 2 or 3, around 30m, not much flowers, dark green leaves, old tree
There was big Pohutukawa tree beside a house on Kealy Road.
Pohutukawas have leaves you can Identify and that is how I found this one in my back yard. The Pohutukawa tree with its crimson red flower has come to play a part of the New Zealand Christmas tradition. You can find the red flowers on Christmas cards.

Yellow round juicy seeds,
Many coppers flying around the location, exposed, grassy cliff top track.
Seedlings very abundant all through the reserve.
Cork Oak by Cornwall Pk cricket field.
Two very sad looking trees in an urban reserve beside the Manukau Harbour.
Update 25/09/19: the trees have been cut down. See last image.
Can anyone help identify this tree. The cones are about 12mm long. I assume it ia a type of cypress?
