Ambystoma laterale, or the blue spotted salamander is particularly rare in the state of Indiana. It is listed by the Indiana DNR as a species of special concern.
I was fortunate enough to encounter a group of 3 Ambystoma laterale living under leaf debris, near a wetland. They could be hybrids.
On Solidago rigida in a sand field planted for CRP CP 42 pollinator habitat. I lean toward Polistes metricus, but am not sure how to make a solid ID to species.
