Delicate papery white petals with purple tinge toward interior, several buds on inflorescence bunch. Fuzzy stem and leaves. Spade shaped leaves. Some stems purple.
Saw this creature in a shallow creek. Might it be larva?
Weird plant or fungal thing coming out of the rock above us
After the rain, when I got up to go to the bathroom at 4 am, this large Sonoran Desert Toad was sitting on my patio! Ajo, Arizona, USA. 17 November 2023
It’s a sleepy I believe, as it had the black marks inside it’s wings.
Was inside fish tank. Red worm about 3 inches. Has tiny hairlike structures.
In real life she was INSANELY metallic cobalt blue, but it didn’t photograph well. This one was certainly larger than the typical house and bee flies. “But OP, why not Copestylum?” I did look into that, and it just doesn’t match the behaviors. The reason I see it as Calliphora is because it came when I poured out some of my rotting bio waste liquid. The stuff reeks and I use it for my plants, but I had just poured a good bit on some compost to help a new area develop its microbiome. I’m busy doing tasks blah blah, then I come back and she’s buzzing around/hovering, looking for some garbage animal scraps to eat. Definitely there for the rotting matter, and was searching for a corpse. I could only get this pic, because iPhones suck, but hopefully it’s very telling. If I’m wrong, let me know, but this is the guess I’m submitting.
