Dozens of seedlings under old Ngaio, obvious purchase for kereru

Cluster of old Kohekohe just down the gully from an old fence line which I guess was the boundary of the old pikarere farm.

Common through bush.

Abundant tree throughout reserve and often forming an almost pure canopy. Flowering heavily during visit - flowers frequented by tui (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae novaeseelandiae).

This plant was approx 4 M tall, the largest I've seen this gully.

Growing on shaded bluffs on steep alpine ridge. I don't know this genus well, but thought this looked like the best bet.

Together with Gentianella astonii.
