Probably a diseased Acacia sophorae, (or a large branch of an otherwise healthy Acacia sophorae sprawling shrub that is diseased from branch base to all branchlets), making it look remarkably like a different species. The new growth especially has the rather yellow to light bronze colour that would be consistent with the morphological appearances that are usually seen with this (??) plastid (??...I've forgotten the taxonomy of the weird virus, virion or whatever! But it'll come to me eventually). The phyllodes and early stage flower buds are much smaller than those of the normal healthy local provenance Acacia sophorae shrubs that are very prevalent in the immediate vicinity to this ' odd one out '.
I'm not sure what exact species
Seemed to be BOOBOOKS? answering each other while I was taking photos of an Aurora.
One seemed to be a km or so away to the west and the other was about 1km away towards the East.
I was facing due South for the Aurora.
They were there for >20 minutes at 23:10 hrs
Possible juvenile Cenchrus setaceus. Leaves are rough down stem. Will check location regularly for flowers to confirm, and update entry.
