Disturbed in its roost and attacked by some scrub jays. Flew off after cleaning itself off and resting a bit. Appeared to have lost some hair and possibly damaged an eye but otherwise ok. I was two feet away gardening so I stood over it to guard it from the birds. My scrub jays were not impressed!
? I saw individuals active at this site as early as February.
Very small, fast-flying bat. Exclude Mexican Free—tailed by shape of the head, shorted ear.
Found inside - unsure how he found his way in
Family of 5 roosting on same mulefat shrub for at least two weeks. These are under protection within a habitat restoration site.
Found while conducting nest surveys for red-cockaded woodpeckers (RCW). These bats were opportunistically roosting in a man-made, drilled cavity that was created for the RCWs.
