Garden escape on edge of bushland.
It is sad to see so many introduced species in a national park
A part of the FABACEAE family due to the presence of a legume-like fruit and the pea flower shape puts it into the Faboideae subfamily. The hairy legume fruit also differentiates it from other Kennedia species.
This was spotted in rubicunda's typical habitat - coastal. It is different to other species in the Kennedia genus due to the more circular shape of its leaflets. The flower is similar to that of Kennedia prostrata but the rubicunda doesn't have the yellow colour in the middle and the petals are oriented differently. The leaf margins also differ with rubicunda having entire and prostrata having crenate or undulate margins. Identified using Robinson and compared with other species in the genus via PlantNet.
