Cyclone Nisarg | Aftermath

Severe cyclonic storm Nisarg devastated many villages in Dapoli taluka of Ratnagiri district in Konkan in June 2020. This video was created while I visited one of the majorly impacted village Kelshi where almost 80% tree cover is gone. Trees like Mango, Jackfruit, Coconut etc are completely destroyed.

Greater Racket-tailed Drongo | Calling

In most of its range in Asia, this is the largest of the drongo species and is readily identifiable by the distinctive tail rackets and the crest of curled feather that begin in front of the face above the beak and along the crown to varying extents according to the subspecies. The tail with twirled rackets is distinctive and in flight it can appear as if two large bees were chasing a black bird.

In the eastern Himalayas the species can be confused with the lesser racket-tailed drongo, however the latter has flat rackets with the crest nearly absent.

Greater racket-tailed drongo has variety of metallic calls; in this video we are showing some of these calls while we were on the fields at the different times. All videos were taken handheld hence have some shakes.

Records of Eastern Yellow Wagtail Motacilla tschutschensis tschutschensis and M. t. taivana from India

On 31-OCT-2016, @paragkokane and @amolkokane saw a yellow wagtail on Neil Island Andaman, INDIA, which was photographed assuming it was M. flava. It had a prominent broad yellowish supercilium, a yellow throat with white sides, buffish underparts with yellow restricted to regions near the belly, and some indistinct mottling on the breast. After some research, the individual was identified as M. t. taivana.

The research paper on the same was published in the same year. It can be found below:
