I think the red leaves are black chokeberry, since I know it is growing in that area, although there are some fruits in the picture that don't go with that. I wonder if it could be two different plants growing together?

Tall tulip tree in fall color along the Blue Ridge Parkway at Rough Ridge. I know it's hard to ID from the picture but I've walked up to that tree to see what it is. I just didn't think of taking a close-up shot of the leaves once I had figured it out. This may have been the best year I've seen for fall colors on the tulip trees. It seems more recently their leaves just dry up, turn brown and fall off the trees without much color development.
