I grew up wandering the Virginia woods on weekends and summers. I have never understood why one would bake by the pool when you could be out adventuring instead. I admit that I was focused on the obvious, "did you see that bird?"," what snake is that?""I wonder how old that tree is" as well as all the pretty flowers. However even after a lifetime of observing nature I realized I will never know enough about our wonderful natural world. We were so happy to find the Master Naturalist educational program and dove into a wider/deeper understanding. I graduated the Virginia Master Naturalist program in March 2019. This is a fantastic program and reveals so many areas of wonder.
