A birdwatcher and naturalist at hart since childhood, and I worked for the Danish government monitoring migratory and breeding birds from 1981 to 1986. During that time I also conduced a distribution survey of River Otter (Lutra lutra) throughout the country and participated in amphibian and small mammal surveys. I moved to British Columbia, Canada, in 1986, where I continued birding and getting involved in amphibian surveys. I obtained my BSc and MSc in biology from the University of Victoria, BC, Canada. Since 1995 I have been a private biology consultant based out of Victoria, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, focusing on Sharp-tailed Snake (Contia tenuis), turtles and bats. I have been involved Recovery Teams for the Endangered Sharp-tailed Snake and Threatened Western Painted Turtle. Now that the kids are grown up my wife and I like to travel.
