I studied biology at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands because my interest was identifying species and being in nature. During my working life I was toxicologist at the Wageningen University. After retiring I finished an archaeology study at Leiden University. Life brought me also to Indonesia, where I spend half of my time. The rest of my time I am in The Netherlands.
My interest is very broad. Although I focus on butterflies and moths, also other insects, birds, and other organisms, such as plants, have my interest. I think I am a real naturalist.
