A naturalist from the plains of Kansas with a specific love for birds. I have a particular passion for Passerellidae (New World Sparrows) which is my main area of focus. My most recent project was studying the phenotypic variations in proposed wintering Cassiar Juncos. I’m now currently authoring a guide to the visual identification of New World Sparrows in North America with illustrator Noah Arthur. I enjoy helping others and as such I am apart of various identification forums and groups that some may recognize my name from.

I made a post referencing the facial pattern terminology I use in my IDs that can be found here.

Feel free to message or @ me on observations with any questions on identification and taxon issues or suggestions regarding Passerellidae. I will be happy to help in any way I can.

Most of my personal observations are just for documentation of various “approachable” subjects of which I then hope to learn more about. I rarely take photographs of birds anymore (sparrows included) as I currently try to focus my attention towards simply observing.
