I alternate between obsessions about plants, fungi and specific animals.

Current interests are to develop relationships with:
• Magpies
• Kaka
• Kea
• Octopuses

Past hyper-fixations have included:
• Seaweeds, edible ones especially
• Native Tree identification and uses
• Edible weeds
• Fungi, in particular edible or usable ones

The prospect of being able to identify every bird, octopus and native tree in Aotearoa is very appealing. It undoubtedly would take to whole new heights a feeling of belonging to the busy natural world surrounding us, transcending from experiencing the natural living world as a tourist.
