I am a retired elementary teacher. When I first retired, I began walking the Walnut Creek Linear Park Trails in Mansfield, TX, for exercise. I became interested in the wildflowers growing there and started photographing them. This led to an interest in learning to identify them. That branched out into learning about trees, shrubs, and all plants. Soon after Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park in Mansfield opened in 2014, I began maintaining the list of flora there. But in Feb., 2020, I moved 300 miles south to West Columbia, TX. I hope to explore the many nature areas near my new home and expect to see new species. I really enjoy using iNaturalist because it allows me to visit locations that I can't physically visit and allows me to learn about plants that I may never see.
