I grew up with a lifelong interest in nature, observing the many insects, birds, frogs, snakes, etc., dwelling in my back yard and identifying them with the Golden Guides my parents provided us with. Fifty years later, I still have several of them! I just recently went through OCVN training at the Wilderness Center and am finishing my certification requirements for volunteer work this year. I am an avid amateur birder, am perfectly happy wading through streams and overturning rocks as I did as a kid, and continue to work on my identification skills for flora and fauna. I often spend time biking on rail trails and love to observe and identify what is around me as I ride. Biking and birding, anyone?
