Ajo

Things continue to escalate on the corona-virus front. Watching something that is bound to be historic unfold, while also being almost completely unaffected by it, is incredibly surreal. Although the town of Ajo is a little more in touch with the rest of the world than Borrego Springs seemed to be, the effect the pandemic has had on Ajo has not been nearly as severe as it has back home. Rather than going home to finish my semester I'll being going back to move myself out of my dorm and on to a quarantine. The situation, while understandable, is rather disappointing. I've resolved to make the most of what's left of this trip before going back to reality.
Ajo seemed a little rough around the edges when we first came. It gets heavy traffic from people passing back and forth from Mexico, and it seemed like its only point was for people making quick stops before moving on. But there's something about this town that I now find really charming. If I ever do retire, I don't think I'd mind if it was to a place like Ajo.
