Observing invasive species

Post on Friday July 30
I have gotten several questions about observing other invasive species at Ponkapoag. We would like to know if you see Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica) or Burning Bush (Euonymus alatus). There are also 3 aggressive native plants- Greenbriar9Smilax spp.) Poison ivy (Toxicodendron radicans) and wild grape(Vitis). Also a note when you take a picture of the plant try to get a closeup of the leaf shape, fruit and or flower. Thanks and enjoy the beautiful weather. Deb

First in person training is a success

Hello Everyone, Even though we had a rainy day we had twenty volunteers turn out for the first in person training. We walked part of the trail and uploaded observations of the invasive species we are tracking. Bittersweet, Buckthorn, Garlic mustard,Multiflora rose, Black swallow-wort, and Phragmites. We saw great blue heron and a large variety of fungi on the trail as well. Thanks for participating!
