Monarchs in western U.S. risk extinction, scientists say.

Monarch butterflies west of the Rocky Mountains are teetering on the edge of extinction, with the number wintering in California down more than 90 percent from the 1980s, researchers said in a study published on Thursday.

Stoneview Nature Center Wildlife Hunt.

Spend the morning with NHMLA and L.A. County Parks and Recreations staff at the brand new Stoneview Nature Center as we conduct the first wildlife survey in the park. Stoneview Nature Center is located in Culver City within the Baldwin Hills.

They didn't know the LA River was full of E. coli, but public officials did.

The Los Angeles River is at a pivotal moment in its history. For most of the past century, it was exclusively a concrete-lined flood control channel. But since 2010 — when federal officials opened two short sections to boating — it's increasingly become a popular recreation spot.
