Sharing obscured locations with MBP

Maryland Biodiversity Project (MBP) catalogs the living things of Maryland and uses location data only for valid science/conservation purposes. Please consider sharing obscured coordinates using one of the following options. The MBP web site only shows observation data at the USGS quad level (county-level only for vulnerable taxa).

** NOTE: These steps are more easily completed on a web browser on a computer vs. mobile device.

Option #1

1) Join the "Maryland Biodiversity Project" project at https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/maryland-biodiversity-project/.
2) Select "Your Membership".
3) Under "Trust this project with hidden coordinates?" select "Yes, for any of my observations" and click "Save".

Option #2

1) Go to https://www.inaturalist.org/people/billhubick and click "follow billhubick". (The ingester runs as Bill.)
2) Go to Account Settings via the menu in the top-right of any page.
3) On the Settings page, click "Relationships". Search for "billhubick" and click enter. Then by my name select the box for "Trust with hidden coordinates".

These options ensure MBP archives the coordinates and maps the record to the appropriate precise location, county, and USGS quad (for use in science and conservation).
