Join the next installment of our iNaturalist.ca webinar series on Friday, October 8th from 12 – 1 pm ET.

The Canadian Wildlife Federation and the Canadian Council on Invasive Species (CCIS) are pleased to announce “iNaturalist Canada: I Spy and Identify: Observe It, Report It”. Learn how you can help track and report invasive species across Canada through the national I spy and identify project and how uploading your observations of nature can have a real-life impact on biodiversity in Canada. Join the Canadian Wildlife Federation for an insightful webinar with the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) on how citizen science provides key information to help inform the assessment and conservation of endangered species in Canada. Leading the session will be John Reynolds, Chair of COSEWIC and Ecology Professor at Simon Fraser University, where he will discuss how citizen science greatly helps in the conservation of nature here in Canada. Cette présentation du Comité sur la situation des espèces en péril au Canada (COSEPAC) traitera de la science citoyenne et de la façon dont elle procure de l’information clé permettant d’évaluer la situation des espèces en voie de disparition au Canada et de les conserver. La session sera dirigée par John Reynolds, président du COSEPAC et professeur d’écologie à l’Université Simon-Fraser; il discutera de l’aide considérable de la science citoyenne envers la conservation de la nature au Canada. This Thanksgiving, Stuff Your iNaturalist Account with Observations and Win! / Pour l’Action de grâces, remplissez votre compte iNaturalist d’observations et gagnez!

A beautiful autumn long weekend, a tapestry of natural colour, and a contest just waiting for you to win prizes. It all adds up to a perfect Thanksgiving Weekend and another chance to enter our CWF Observation Nation Contest. Take advantage of the long weekend to connect with nature by making observations through your iNaturalist account. Take the family on a nature hike to walk off the gravy and bring your smart phone, camera, or mobile device. Make observations of all the flora and fauna you see and upload the images to iNaturalist.ca. Your pictures could win you some cool prizes, including CWF bucket hats, iNaturalist head buffs, or sets of micro lenses that allow you to photograph tiny images with your smart phone.

More winners will be chosen every week, and everyone qualifies for the grand prize that includes a Robert Batemen giclee (fine art print)! Contest ends October 29th, 2021. Sortez en famille pour faire un peu d’exercice et amenez votre téléphone intelligent, appareil photo ou autre appareil. Photographiez la faune et la flore que vous voyez puis téléversez ces observations sur iNaturalist.ca. Vos photos pourraient remporter des super prix comme un chapeau de pêche de la FCF, un cache-cou iNaturalist ou un ensemble d’objectifs macro pour prendre des photos rapprochées avec votre téléphone intelligent.
