The two names are obligate synonyms. It is not yet clear that this species is conspecific with G. perlata, so we should avoid synonymizing them yet. While no molecular data are available for G. ancilis, species (including the type) of Discina nest in Gyromitra with good support, so species placed in Discina should be treated in Gyromitra.
