Arcata Marsh Field Notes Day 3

Walking on cement path towards the Arcata Wastewater Treatment Plant. The day is partly sunny/ partly cloudy, 48 degrees Fahrenheit.

Arrived at Oxidation Pond 1 at 14:03. The tide is low. Water is very still and muddy. No Avocets on sight. Some birds including geese and ducks. While standing and observing, the breeze is small.

Walking W of the trail, the wind is picking up. Turning right (N) the wind is even stronger. Turning right (E) the wind is gone. We arrived at tree #10 at 14:33. The tree's buds are coming out and have white fuzz. Before getting closer to the tree, two black ducks rested under the tree.

Heading back in the same path, a big flock of at least 100 geese is circling around before landing North of the Salt Marsh.
