Originally from Calgary, I’m a Biology undergraduate student at the University of Victoria, and I have an interest in ecology, genetics, and environmental restoration and conservation. I love spending time hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and skiing, and have a particular passion for entomology. Some of my favourite insects are dragonflies, long-horned beetles, bee flies, and sphinx moths, and I frequently make use of an ultraviolet light to observe night-flying insects. I also enjoy learning about plants, and more recently have taken up birdwatching!

My Identifications

My identification experience is mostly restricted to northwestern North America. If you have any questions about my identifications, or if I make a mistake, feel free to mention me in the observation or send me a direct message!

The organisms I currently have the most experience identifying are yellowjacket wasps (Vespidae), stink bugs (Pentatomidae) and other assorted insects. I've also been working on learning bee flies (Bombyliidae) and hover flies (Syrphidae), among others.
