City Nature Challenge 2019: San Diego

Bee ready to find the bees! Consider going out this weekend during the City Nature Challenge and look for bees, especially native ones. San Diego is one of the most biodiverse spot in the US and species of bees abound! There are over 20,000 species in the world and about 700 of them are right here in our county.
In "Bees of San Diego County", you can see that the Western Honey Bee dominates, followed by the big guys: bumble bees and carpenter bees.
When you go out in the field this weekend, try to find the littler native bees. They are out there!
I also want to congratulate our new top species contributor @tom_barnes_
Thank you Tom for your dedication to the bees and your amazing photographs.
And thank you to our top identifiers @johnascher @kjhung and @rustybee !!
We will definitely need your help this weekend until May 5th to ID all our finds.
Get your cameras ready and have some fun!
